DHAKA: Planning Minister MA Mannan said lack of information is the main barrier to achieving 17 goals of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
The minister made the comment at the inauguration ceremony of 'SDG Bangladesh Progress Report-2018' at the NEC conference room in Sher-E-Bangla Nagar on Sunday (February 3).
The minister said, “The contribution of private sector to achieve SDGs is important. But, in some cases, there is a lack of information and no credible information. In other cases, there is absolutely no information at all. Statistics has an important role to obtain SDG-related information across the country.”
MA Mannan also said, “The country has developed a lot in the Internet. Development in power sector is unprecedented. Positive impact of development in electricity was noticeable during last national election.
Economist Dr Wahid Uddin Mahmud, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Najibur Rahman, former advisor of caretaker government Rasheda K Chowdhury also spoke the programme.
